Tuning
Tuning is the final step in the process of creating a sonorous
and pure-sounding end product. Tuning a bell is not merely a question of
measuring tones and then grinding away metal from the inside. The most important
thing is to listen to the sound of the bell, the hum note and the overtones, and
to how they sound in harmony or disharmony. Eijsbouts aims to produce a richness
combined with tonal purity and sonority.
Besides using the computer to design bells, Eijsbouts uses it as
an aid to achieving the desired tonal result, as well. However, the computer can
never replace the human ear's role; the critical ear of the bell tuner will
always have the last word in the tuning process.

During the tuning process, material is being shaved off using
a lathe.
