Computer-designed bell models

Calculating the bell model by computer enables us to make an exact prediction regarding the most important features of the bell's sound as early as the design phase. When historical carillons are restored, bells are often replaced or supplemented with one or more bells. It is important that the newly cast bells harmonise extremely accurate with the existing series. Thanks to an early introduction of the computer to bell design, together with a steadily advancing casting technique, Eijsbouts has built up so much expertise and experience that we are able to (re)produce any bell, regardless of its form or timbre.

The major third bell

The computer has also enabled us to create new bell profiles and to design bell-related products. Eijsbouts is the first bell-founder in history to have succeeded in manufacturing a major third bell. This bell replaces the characteristic minor third partial that appears in all traditional bells by a major third, which imparts a unique tonal character to the bell. Further development has made it possible to combine major and minor third bells within the same set.
